When Social Media Had Kaalakaandi Hangover

Kaalakaandi is a film starring Saif Ali Khan and Sobhita Dhulipala. The movie covers 3 different stories that bind together to make one hilariously dark comedy.

With the New Year starting, we decided to hold a Kaalakaandi Hangover contest. For this contest, we started with the buildup, launched it on 1st January 2018 and concluded it on 2nd January 2018. In the contest, users were asked to send in their New Year Hangover images. The best images were selected and 3 winners were given gifts along with Kaalakaandi gratification.

We had released the Kaala Doreya song earlier in December 2017. In January 2018, we further promoted the song by posting review cards. As of 2nd January, the song had a total of about 3 million views on Facebook and YouTube combined.

About 6 days prior to the release of the movie, we started using the hashtag #KaalakaandiKiUltiGinti. We also uploaded different dialogue promos to keep the users engaged. When it was only 4 days for the movie to release, we launched a video called ‘Wackiest 4 AM Confessions With Saif Ali Khan’ on Instagram. Click here to watch the video!

The screening for Kaalakaandi took place on 8th and 9th January. We updated live updates from the venue on all platforms. On 11th January, the Kaalakaandi Team went Live from the Facebook office. Actors all over the industry gave phenomenal reviews. From Aamir Khan to Anupama Chopra, all had an amazing experience watching the movie.

But we didn’t stop at that. We put out review cards and videos to push the movie further. To keep the engagement on, videos of shout-outs by the cast & crew and public reviews videos were uploaded.

Overall, Kaalakaandi was a definite success, and we are glad to have been able support this movie digitally!
